Put this in the wrong area so I'm reposting it. I was feeding Steve earlier and noticed he has this big white lump on his one foot. Any idea what it is?

He still uses the foot to walk/climb and it doesn’t seem to bother him.

Still not sure what’s going on with this bump. He’s acting completely fine, uses the foot no problem, etc, but the right front leg is visibly larger than the left leg. Any ideas?

hey! sorry no one has replied yet!
im really not sure what it could be either, perhaps an infection or fluid buildup? really not sure, i don’t know what i’d do in your shoes.

also, his gills look horrid. what are your parameters? i worry for his health overall

His gills look like that from ammonia poisoning a few years ago. They never really grew back. I don’t have his parameters on hand but I change his water at least once a week to keep the quality as clean as possible. I just got him a chiller so his water is around 60 degrees. He’s also almost 10. He acts totally fine, he eats well, comes up to the glass when people approach; he just looks a little scraggly as far as I know?

If it doesn’t jump out as something specific then I’ll have to try to find an exotic pet vet again. I couldn’t find any near me but I’ll look again.

i think perhaps it’s a tumor, given his old age. however, due to axolotls being resistant to cancer, i doubt it’s malignant.

Hm, maybe? It doesn't seem to be hurting him. He walks with it like the bump isn't even there. I didn't know they were resistant to cancer, that's pretty cool O:

Ty for your reply btw~ I appreciate the input :)

Sorry you didn't receive a reply when you needed it. For what it's worth, I don't know what that is. Has it grown since August?

No worries! I kinda figured no one was replying cuz they didn’t know what it was. The photos I linked is as much as it’s grown. The lump itself has topped out at the size it is in the most recent photo (about… mmm I’d say like 5mm on its widest side?), but then the rest of his arm started swelling. That has also stopped now as far as I’ve noticed.
