I dont know where should I ask this question on this online community. So if anyone think there is a better place to move it, please feel free to do so.
I am wondering if there is any web blog which allow a pet keeper to document all pet-related activities, such as water changes, feeding...etc. I have been having difficulty remembering when I last changed water, last fed the newts...etc. I am sure some people might write a journal to keep such record online or in a book. But is there any thing online that is specifically designed for keeping reptile and amphibian? If there is one, will you be interested to use it?
The story is that, I am a web-developer and I am kind of free this month. I thought I might be able to start a project that is useful for myself and perhaps to others in the community, while adding something to the portfolio.
I am imagining that it is a website, which you can login, add a number of enclosures(aquairum) to your profile. Then you can insert data, such as temperature, water parameters and any things about your pets based on each observation. Record when you have changed water by how much, and when you have fed your animal by how much. And you can note down the health of your pets. All this entries can be categorized and match with a date.
By keeping a log like this, you may observe a trend and keeping a log of what trigger breeding, sickness...etc for different species.
You may also let your data be private or public. If it is public, your data may be shared with other newt keepers for reference. If it is private, the data can be included with other public profile, which can generate a general analysis of the entire keepers community. In this case, we can observe overall trend in the entire community of captive caudata.
I dont know if this is a good idea or bad idea. If some good amount of people like to give it a try or think this is good idea, I dont mind spending some hours to work on this. And please feel free to give advice and suggestion, so that I can program something that is customized for this online community of Caudata Keepers.
