waterdog dilemma

hello...about a month ago i bought 4 waterdogs (tiger salamander larvae) they have been eating very well. i have them living in a very plain 30gl tank equipped with a in tank tetra whisper filter(i was told this filter makes water impeccable) i also change their water 3 times a week. a large rock with a cave under it for shelter and to climb out of when metamorphosis should occur..and..well that's it..anyways 2 of then are about 8 to 9 inches and the other two are like 5 or 6...so i was wondering if waterdogs shed their skin because in the past couple of days most of the waterdogs now have little tini white "buggers" on them ....im really hoping its not a disease

Hi Chicco, if you have access to a camera I would advise you to take some photos, it makes it a lot easier for people to solve a problem if there's pictures available. Try and post some photos of your little guys so if there is some kind of problem someone will know how to go about rectifying it and if it is nothing, then you can relax :happy: I hope this helps, sorry I couldn't provide you with any information on your larvae - Zach

the little white colored lines and spots..im hoping its just shedding skin


......while im on here i would like to ask another question....when i bought the water dogs...two of them came a little darker(probably different species) and had a lil rough horn in each side on their cloaca...at first i just assumed it was a gender thing..but the more pics i looked on the enternet of other waterdogs the more my suspicion grew...plz let me know

Sorry Chicco, It's me again, unfortunately the way in which you tried to upload your pictures didn't work, If you have copies of the photos on your computer, providing they are the right file size (390.6 KB Max for .jpeg files) all you need to do is click on "Manage Attachments" in the Additional Options area - just under the window where you type the text of your reply and you will be given the option to upload 3 photos. Alternatively you could post them as gallery pictures from your User CP, which you'll find a link to in the second green bar from the top - once there you can click on your Pictures & Albums section, and it should be pretty straight forward from there. When uploading pictures in a thread it's always best to preview your post just to make sure everything has worked the way you intended, best of luck uploading your photos and if you need any further help with it, feel free to send me a PM - Zach

Well, I see the white lines that your talking about. I had one once that had very similar marks. but was otherwise healthy. I'd eventually convinced myself that they were a fungus and gave it a salt bath or two, and shortly after that my animal's condition deteriorated and it didn't survive long after that. So, I'm curious to see what others say.
