What temperature range do you keep your water in your tank?

I have P. chinesis. Right now the water is at about 66 degrees. I had to change the water out after a mishap which brought it down to this temp. It was about 70 degrees beofre the water change.

(this probably belongs in the "Newt and Salamander Help" section)

The low to mid 60's F is a good temperature range for them, they can definitely handle colder though.

It should be in the help section...I forget about that forum.

Anyways....lower temps are for mating/breeding correct?

My group is currently at 47F.

Are they mating/breeding in that temperature?
Or does it matter?

47 - 68 is a wide range. Is that for seasonal change or do you all try to keep it constant?

Keeping a constant temp year-round is detrimental for the caudat´s health.
They should be exposed to a significant lower temp for at least 3 months not just to trigger mating and reproduction, which is an excelent sign of health, but also to allow other hormonal changes to happen.
Keeping them cool is excelent for their health, because it also boosts their inmune system.

I keep my newts in the basement so the temp ranges from 70 in the dead of summer to 55 in the winter. Right now they are around 61 degrees.
