I want to buy an Axolotl, and i was wondering what do i do when the water temperature gets to hot? In summer the temperature here gets pretty hot so what can i do to make sure the water stays cool enough for him. Thanks

To keep the tank cool you need to lose the aquarium hood (if you have one) and replace it with a mesh screen lid (just a frame with mesh, very easy to make http://www.caudata.org/forum/members/ted22-albums-how-build-lid.html ), Get an air pump and a bubble stone/bubble wall and a small desktop fan. Just set up the air pump and bubbler and place the fan on the lid blowing air across the waters surface, the temp should drop a couple of degrees this way. The aim is to increase evaporation which cools the water, the bubbles breaking the waters surface and the increased airflow will help with this!

Other than that you are limited to getting a chiller (very expensive) or the old ice water bottle technique which is alot of hassle to keep on top of, takes up valuable freezer space, and can cause fluctuating temperatures that axies dont like. Keeping the tank in a cool dark place away from sunlight would be the simplest option I guess!

Hope this helps
