Question: Water help?

Hi,

I got my axolotl 9 days ago now. I just received my API master test kit. I've done some water checks and these are my results...

pH: 7.2
Ammonia: 0.25 ppm
Nitrate: 5.0 ppm
Nitrite: 0 ppm

I have been doing about 25% - 50% water changes each day to try keep the water clean until my filter is established. Is there anything else I can be doing?

Not really, but it's strange to be seeing nitrate readings and not nitrite. I would say that's your normal tap water so it's probably best to do a test on dechlorinated tap water just as a baseline reading.

You could see if someone near you with an established filter would give you some of their filter media,that would help speed up the process.
