Question: Water Conditioners?

I use Super Safe in conjunction with Bactuur from Colombo, this stuff has worked wonders for me. I think it's a European brand though.

The Bactuur was a massive help for me in starting up my cycle. I had no trouble whatsoever, and I never had a single ammonia spike. Incredible stuff imo ;)

I am in the US I don't think I can get any of those. :(

I checked it gets rid of chloramines ( I can't spell sorry)

Also I do not know that it matters but my tank is fully cycled :)

I use reptisafe, it's available at petsmart and petco and is in with the reptile and hermit crab stuff. I have used it for 2 years with hatchlings through adults.

I know what reptisafe is lol ... but is there a huge advantage to using one vs the other?

There is already a thread on this.

And yes, there is an advantage, Price lol

Certain products are going to have more concentration then others based on the assumed volume of usage. Like reptisafe has a (drops per oz volume) where as if you buy an aquarium or even a pond conditioner it will be oz per gallons volume.

As I always reiterate, make sure the conditioner you use removes heavy metals.

I personally use 'API stress coat +' and it's great and cause you only use 1ml or less at a time, it lasts aggggges

I use stress-coat too. Since I use mostly RO water (our tap water is literally rock-hard), I like the added aloe.

I've never used one, what are the advantages? I only use fertilizer for the plants in the tank (only thing added to water).

Is this the stuff that removes chlorine? (I have well water without any so I've never had to use that)

It removes chlorine and chloramine from tap water, I'd recommend using it just be on the safe side.

If you have well-water, there's no need to use a dechlorinator. You may think about something that removes heavy metals, if that's a concern in your area.
