How much tank water can be changed at any one time? This seems to vary (depending on the website) anywhere from 10% - 25% of the total volume.

well it kinda depends on filter/tank/bio load. i recomend getting a test kit. that way you can see the levels of nitrate rise in your tank. i dont remember the exact ppm. but a lot of people do 20% water change ever other week. im sure someone will chime in with exact numbers.

The best answer is: it depends.

You should change enough water to bring your water parameters within normal levels. This could be as little as 10% or as much as 25%. The best way to tell is to test your water with a liquid reagent test kit.
