When I do my water changes, I've been pouring the (dechlorinated, room-temperature) water from my 4-gallon bucket directly into the tank. I aim it at my glazed terracotta plant pot plate so as not to explode the sand everywhere, but I've noticed a few things:
I haven't actually found many descriptions of how this is 'properly' done, and it would be nice for newbies (including me!) to be able to find the info... So:
How does everyone else add water to their tanks?
- 4 gallons of water is effin' heavy;
- any junk in the tank gets horribly stirred up by the water flow;
- I sometimes miss the plate and send sand everywhere;
- the floating plants (water wisteria) get caught up in the 'whirlwater;' and
- 4 gallons of water is effin' heavy.
