Was told both axies were female. The beeeder was wrong 🫤

I’m quite the newbie. Got my first axie in August of last year. I researched for months before I got her and read about them even now. I got another axie from the same lady in November. She said they were both almost a year old. One 10 months the other 11 months and said she was confident they were both female.
The other day at 12:50 pm I found out this is not the case. I have read so many sites but always come back here for the most accurate info
My question is, since this happened there are no eggs so far. Im watching her like a hawk. But nothing. I’ve read 12 to 20 hours and up to 72 hours or even several days. I don’t know which info is correct. All my parameters are perfect, no light except natural light in the room and water is a constant 64 degrees. Am I doing something wrong or is it possible that no fertilization took place?

There were spermatophores in the water or something???
Unless there was some sort of definitive proof other than these cloacal shots, such as spermatophores in the water, there will be a grand total of zero eggs laid.

If your axolotls are laying eggs, they are definitely female. If they are laying spermatophores, they are definitely male.

Please indicate *HOW* you have come across that one is a male and not a female as the breeder told you.

Another question is whether the one with the more defined cloaca is defecating or not. A female axolotl will have her cloaca swell when about to defecate so double-check. It's possible you do have a male but going back to the eggs question, unless you've seen spermatophores, then you won't have eggs.

He/she was nudging her a bit. She didn’t even move at first. Then he was going to various places in the tank wiggling his tail and dropping white stringy material (for lack of a better word) she was then moving around the right side of the tank laying flat on her belly for several minutes.
Like I said I’m a newbie. I just want to be sure everything is ok with them. They both poop ever couple of days. They’re both acting quite normal now but Tuesday was a different story. She was much more calm than her tank mate.
I was just curious to know if this was indeed a breeding if over 48 hours is normal to see no eggs. I have read so many different things.

Spermatophores are kind of cone shaped by @JM29 and @wolfen can better help you in this area.

If it looked something like this, then it could indeed be accidental breeding. It could just be really bad diarrhea as well or something. How does the cloaca look currently? Does it still look like it's bulging?

Whew!! Thank you. It did not look like that. More stringy without that kind of definition.
As of this morning was still bulging. It never goes away but is always there to some degree.
You have taken a load off my mind. Thank you thank you thank you.

It's still possible it might be a male but if it was a defecation that big, then it could just be an overactive axolotl who had a massive poop that she's still recovering from. Keep checking up on it and try to get pictures from both above and below and I'm sure @wolfen and @JM29 can help you figure out whether the breeder was mistaken or not.

They both look females.
Anyway, if they are only 11 and 10 months old, they are still young and there can still be a male among them.
At temperatures between 10°C to 16°C, they can reach sexual maturity at about 18 months old.

I'm also not convinced you have a male. But saying that axolot are good at surprising you. They both look lovely, just keep doing what you've been doing.
If they do breed you have a few options. If you choose to raise any try not to be tempted to hatch all, just do a small.batch of 10/20. I stopped raising axolotl after doing a few years as it's more time consuming than I liked. I ended up just leaving the eggs in the tank and they would be eaten. If you catch sight of spermataphore, remove them. But being sneaky little beasts they'd play night time so by morning it would be too late .
