I have a Chinese firebelly and I tried giving vitamin and calcium powder in the past but it didnt work out so well.
My newts main diet is frozen bloodworms and brine shrimp, but also eats frozen daphnia and beef heart, live earthworms and live blackworms.
My newt only eats sunken food, but the powder falls off in the water before my newt eats the food, and it pollutes the water when it settles to the bottom.

Does my newt need vitamins and calcium, he's over 10 years old and never had it.

As your newt accepts earthworms, you can't go wrong with feeding these or chopped nightcrawlers as a staple. They are the 'perfect food' as they have an optimal calcium to phosphate ratio - no need for supplementation.

I am so happy I found your post. I was just getting ready to ask about vitamins and calcium. I am going to try the different foods you say you give your newt.
