My girlfriends little sister called me the minute she found out about this animal in the game Viva Pinata. It is called a Newtgat and bears a striking resemblance to an axolotl. I thought it was kinda neat and wanted to share.

The game also allows the players to mate the animals to produce new ones. The following link has the "mating dance" of the Newtgat... I would love it if this were the way even one real newt actually mated!

Yes I've played this game, you can even make the newtgat "evolve" (we'd call it morph) to a "Salamango" which doesn't even look like a salamander though. Loved the game, can recommend it to anyone.

That is awesome!! Perhaps i will have to goof around with this game a bit.

hey! now I have a new game to check out. Is that game based on a tv show? I swear one day in the moring I saw a show about talking pinatas. From how you described it the game sounds interseting.

Animal Crossing:Wild World has a NPC named Dr. Skrunk who is a Leutistic axolotl that teaches emotions to players.
Pokemon Diamond and Pearl is suposed to have Wooper (larval salamander) and Quagshire(terrestrial evolved form of Wooper). I havn't gotten that game yet so I cannot confirm.
just letting you know about other ones I found in games.

Just to play off what Mantighoul said, there is also another pokemon called Mudkip that is based off a mudpuppy/axolotl. It evolves into two others that are terrestrial salamander-like but I don't know there names. I don't even play or watch pokemon but I just remember it from some place.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
