Is it ok to use a UV Sterilizer with Axolotls to remove algae, im fed up with having green water and haven't got any idea how to get rid of it, everything we've tried so far hasnt worked :(

Hi, i can't answer your question, but i'm thinking that i read an article somewhere saying not to, i will have a look about and see if i can help. Other than that the best way to keep algae levels down is to keep your tank/container out of direct sunlight and frequent water changes, maybe daily if your algae is really blooming. Also have a look on axolotl.com or theres a set up guide on here, these may help.

I don't have a definite answer, but I can't think of any harm that a UV sterilizer would do. How long has the tank been set up? Most algae problems subside after the first few months. It might help to let OTHER kinds of algae grow, only cleaning them off the front glass.

Its been set up for just over a month now, we do regular water changes and it helps for a while but doesnt solve the problem :( i no it doesnt do any harm, its just annoying to have a green tank, its not in direct sunlight and we dont turn the lights on except for when feeding them, could our living room lights be making it worse?
