may sound dumb but do i put the spray bar under the water or just above the water and when setting up a new tank how do you clean it from the store? thanks
I don´t use spray bar , but I´ve seen some tanks and they all use in water level.
I´ve cleaned my aquarium and some material, with alcohol and then with a rag full of water, than let it dry for the alcohol completely evaporate.
If it doesn´t smell like alcohol, it´s ok to use.
i´ve done this with my 10 aquarium and it´s fine
The spray bar can be put above the water level, or under. To really minimize current, I'd suggest putting it under the water level with the holes pointing upwards.
I would not recommend using any kind of home alcohol to clean aquarium stuff. It often contains denaturing agents that are very toxic (and not listed on the label). For new equipment, I would just rinse it.
i cleaned it with salt water and rinsed well do u think i need to use a airstone if im using the spray bar and how would you set up the spray bar in your opinion wat is better i have a 3 ft tank
we are talking about different types of alcohol, for sure, here in portugal we have alcohol, it´s liquid, and I use it a lot of times without problems. But I think you should follow Jennifer advice, since you don´t know what type of alcohol I´m talking about, sorry.
Liv, if the spray bar is providing some agitation of the surface of the water, then I would say that you do not need an airstone... UNLESS your tank is sealed up very tightly so that air cannot exchange well with the outside (like if you have a solid glass top).
