Um—I have a pool at my house and LOTS of half-alive flying ants float around every day ... is it okay to feed these to my newt or will the slight chlorine on them become poisonous over time?

Because I have absolutely no problem finding pillbugs, weevils, and whatnot ... I spend an hour every day sitting on the pavement waiting for buses at my college, I even have empty film canisters in purse that once contained quarters.

But it would be easier to just scoop live insects out of the pool, given that they're so prolific.

Hi, I moved your question to its own thread, as it's a new topic. Most newts won't eat ants, so that may be a reason for this not working. I suppose the chlorine issue could be dealt with by letting the bugs sit around for a day or two to allow the chlorine to dissipate. Or by swishing them around with some water + dechlorinating solution.

pillbugs are known for building up massive quantities of toxins in their bodies, especially in urban areas. I'd only use them if I grew em myself.
