(US) Gallons, (UK) Litres, and how large for two adults?

I know the recommended size for one adult axolotl is 10(US) gallons, 37 (I think?) litres in the UK. Do you just add another 10(37) for every additional axolotl, preferably length-wise, or is it fine to have, say, a 15 gallon tank?

Apologies if this is a dense/common sense question. We haven't had an aquarium since I was small (and I'm sure it seemed a lot larger then) for a few goldfish and minnows, and I can't find anything precise. I understand this is related to retaining water quality, though?

I think the general rule is a foot of floor space per axie, but thats generally, i wouldnt recommend a 1ft tank for 1 axie for example

if you were to get two i think a 3 foot tank or bigger is best

My understanding was correct, then. Okay, a reshuffle of the Grand Pet Plan!

It seems like I would have to go for one axolotl initially, then progress to two once I'm settled in one place and have more space. I'll keep an eye out for secondhand tanks in the meantime. So long as you rinse them thoroughly, you could use disinfectant in them, right?

Vinegar is a good dissinfectant, I personally used salt as an abrasive then added vinegar to disinfect, rinsing thourgly

Aww wow, I hadn't thought of that. And I suppose bicarb is pretty useful, too.

Oh dear, I can just see this resulting in fizzy back garden "science" experiments.

I have sooo many questions. We have two (three?) outdoor water... tanks at home, which we use to water the garden in the summer. (It's been so wet lately...) I know people sometimes keep axolotls in ponds, but would adding a bit of collected rainwater to dechlorinated and day-aged water be beneficial during cycling, or add some additional nutrients, or anything like that?
