Just noticed one of my axolotls has a red leg which I would assume means capillaries have burst due to a viral or bacterial infection. Only seen it this bad on one of my many babies which is hopefully a good sign. I'm about to do a full water change on all the containers and have isolated the one with the problem. I have also isolated another baby which i saw has a little spot on its toe. Could this be the start of the infection? What do I do from here? I really do not want all the babies to die. That would be tragic :(

If in doubt isolate the affected baby, just in case.

Those pictures aren't very clear, but your axie could have been bitten or injured by a sibl- I'd say that is far more likely than infection if it's only one affected.

Red leg is a symptom, not an illness. It's caused by septicemia, usually.

In the first picture, it looks as if your axolotl's had it's arm injured by a tank mate. I see nothing in the second photo.

Thanks for your input! I think I panicked a bit. Basically from what has happened in the last 24 hours I think it's just an injury. The second photo the little guy just had a dot on his toe. I started noticing it on a few of the axies but it must be nothing. Just a little bit of a scare. I've put my inured ones in a separate container for quarantine until they get better. Sorry about the photo's. I emailed them to myself and they changed size :(

Hopefully this little guy heals. I panicked because I have 50 babies and a diseases can spread pretty quickly.

Thanks for your help!
