Hey gang, so my axolotl is apparently doing well. From Halloween till now, her water qualities have been perfect. I say till now because they still are so who knows. However, since I broke my hand, I cannot clean her tank well. I have a hard time taking her out and putting her in her tub. I also cannot take her sponge filter apart to clean the plastic interior with one hand. I get my cast off on January 5th so hopefully that will help.
However, I do not know what is going on with her one tendril. She keeps getting a white plume on it that goes away within 3 days. It's the gill stalk she regrew in October. She is still active, eating, let's me handle her when necessary, and is showing no signs of stress. Straight tail, gills aren't thrown forward, she spends most her days on the bottom, waltzing around in the sand, hiding under things, etc.
Should I be concerned about this? Since it's winter, the house is much colder and thus, her tank is, so that is good. I have no idea if she has fungus on that gill or if she's just got poor blood flow to that tip. Hard to get a good photo because of the tank reflecting. I will try and get one when I clean her tank next, which will be on the 24th.
