I first realised I wanted an axolotl when I was waiting in line for the PCR machine at uni and saw these girlies watching me from their tank :p

I asked Steve (lab tech) their keeper what they were like and he is totally head over heels for them, he knows practically everything about keeping them and he also looks at this forum! The three in the tank are all sisters and their tank is really really long. He is on the hunt for ideas to keep them happy, things for the tank etc so any ideas appreciated! Also the lil guy in the box is Morph, he morphed a few years ago, Steve noticed him gulping for air a lot and thankfully realised what was happening. His sisters lived with him (massive tank, fine water, good temp etc) and they didn't change! He enjoys his water tub which he chills out in and he likes to bury himself in the soil sometimes too. I find him amazingly interesting!

They're not fat! Never call a lady fat! They're 'rubenesque'!

Female axolotls are often a bit pudgier than males since they're carrying eggs (even if there's no male present).

I have no idea how often he feeds them but I suspect they employ the same methods as my Poodle, we feed him once a day on balanced healthy dog food yet he is still overweight? He actually goes visiting next door on his own and gets biscuits and begs off my brother's friends for food. My guess would be those smiley little faces are aimed at the PhD students and other staff who have found out where the food is kept :D

hahaha morph sort of looks like Voldemort :p
