Ultrasonic foggers

I was wondering if anyone knew if ultrasonic foggers are a safe addition to a terrarium. I think I remember reading somewhere that they can heat up and pose a danger to amphibians. However, I can't recall where I would have read that. Does anybody use them without any harm? And are they safe for use with caudates? Thanks.

Hi Drew,
In my experience, the ones that are made to go into a tank will raise the temperature of the tank. What you want to use is a commercial ultrasonic humidifier and then run some pvc tube from the humidifier to the tank>

I'm not quite sure exactly what you mean by a commercial ultrasonic humidifier. Could you tell me what you use or had used in the past? Thanks.

What you want with it is a removable exit point that allows for the insertion of 2 or three inch pvc which acts as a conduit for the mist to the tank. Make sure you do not use a warm mist humidifier..

you can buy the ultrasonic units too for 50 bucks or so that just sit in the water and mist.

I bought ultrasonic humidifiers new in the box off of ebay for $20.00 each shipped and am going to run the PVC from the humidifier to the tanks.

I found the link for the misting unit! it is a fogger, just like a humidifier that you just drop into a water source.
