So I've just gotten back from camping and found some pretty cool pebbles to decorate with, as well as a 3 perfect rocks to make the coziest hide. However - it was from a beach. An unpolluted national park beach, now I will be quarantining these pretty well, boiling them, vinegar bath, in the sun for a week or two and reboiling. Now - I've read through previous posts and the rocks you can use but still unsure so I took photos. The small pebbles are all smooth. The 2 medium big ones feel rough kind of like sandstone and has a sort of "grain", the biggest/flattest feels sandy but not so much sandstone. I've also done the vinegar test and none fizzed or bubbled in the slightest.

I've also read pretty conflicting things, some saying sandstone is 100% not suitable for tanks, some say it's okay it just raised your pH (which I don't mind, I'm sitting on about 7.4-7.6).

Thoughts on what kind of rocks they are, and the thought about sandstone in tanks (if it is)?

Those little rocks look a bit risky, also the food will fall between then and make the water quality worse :(
But the large ones should be okay, you dont need to vinegar bath them, you just pour a little on the rock to see if it fizzes.

If it fizzes, its bad.

Oh no I have sand in my tank I was just going to place them in like stepping stones and lift it up when I siphon. Or do they look like a dangerous material? They're quite large rocks that he cant swallow, some are the size of my palm.

I did the vinegar drop test and no fizzies, I just heard vinegar was good for cleaning, or is it an unnecessary step if I'm boiling them?

Well putting vinegar in the water your boiling them in wont hurt but they dont need a separate pure vinegar bath :D

As long as the smallest ones are palm-ish size then it will be okay, they just look littler in the pic hehe
