Here's a photo of one of my wenxianensis. It's a female.
Very beautiful species but rather difficult to care for, very sensitive to stress, etc.

Lovely animal Mark, thanks for sharing. I bet Jen would be interested in that photo for Caudata Culture.

Thanks both.
This one I've got for only a few weeks now, the rest of the group for a few months.
Of course Jen may use it for caudata culture.

And another photo of the same animal:

Great photo's Mark! It's nice to see that she is still doing well. I'll keep my fingers crossed for some offspring next year!

Hi Mark,
Very nice photos, I wish I could get such good photos of my taliangensis. I probably have to take them outside in sunshine and that would not be easy(It's below zero and mostly dark :D).

Yes lighting is essential. Looking forward to your photos.

Hi Mark, lovely animal. Was this obtained from the pet trade? I have not found any reliable way to distinguish between wenxiensis and asperrimus. Do you know of any?

I would like to use your photo on Caudata Culture, particularly if you have reason to be fairly certain of its ID.

Hi Jen

The animals didn't come from the pet trade, they were from a friend of mine.

I'm quite certain these are wenxianensis, though I don't know of any way to distinguish the 2 species for sure. Tylototriton is one of the most problematic genera existing and a lot of research must be done before it's all sorted out.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
