By far one of my fav's out of all the amphibians despite what some say about boring personalities.

Really nice photos Louise, can I make a request for some pics of your kongkongensis? I am currently on the look out for some to go in my newtless 30 gallon tank, I'd love to see yours...

They are fantastic!

These really are lovely animals....I have 8 tadpoles from the Guru Ian Riggs, that I am rearing at the moment. I hope we are succesfull with them and they grow to be like the healthy ones you have.

I seen one of these guys at a local shop! Finally seen one in a shop and I wanted it so bad, it was HUGE! The bad part(s) was that it had fungus, I didn't have a proper set up, and they wanted allot for him. I felt so bad for him, all he had was a very small ceramic dish of water and dry moss.:(

And he was pissed! He bit the guy showing him to me pretty bad..lol serves them right. Took the guy by surprise even tho it couldn't have hurt him.
 
Great shots. Jwerner - Now who could ever accuse a shanjing of having a boring personality?? Seriously though, mine slow down a bit during the winter but are otherwise beggars the rest of the year.

Out of curiosity are they imports? The one in the first photo looks as though it has a small sore in the center of it's head? Maybe I'm wrong.
 
Thanks guys. The 'sore' on its head was just a wee drop of water.

JWerner-I haven't found them boring at all, they have very definite personalities!
 
Sorry about the confusion it just looks red around the outside, but I guess water makes sense.
 
OK guys, I was misinformed as I found out when I saw that one latch on to the guy at the pet shop.

    Had a question that I just want to be sure of. My marbled newt is a little over a year old and has started to develop and I noticed that he is starting to swell a little below his abdomen. I guess I’d like to know if they are his testes or if I need to be concerned.

I'm new to this website and idk how to ask a proper question on the designated spot yet, so I'll ask here, I'm a first time Axolotl owner, and my dad used to run an aquarium store, anyways... Orca, my Axolotl, seems to loose parts of her toes on one limb from time to time, I can't seem to find the problem. Tempature is well, she doesn't seem to have any infections or anything, though. And I'm not sure if I'll be able to find a vet in Brazil for amphibians that are in a reasonable distance to drive without stressing Orca out too much

    Hello, I’m hoping for some advice please. Our Axolotl is about 7 months old. Till now no problem. Eating, growing and happy. He’s simply stopped eating. Everything looks fine, his gills look healthy and no apparent signs of sickness. He just swims past the pellets and bloodworm like he can’t smell it. I don’t think it’s a blockage either. Any ideas and suggestions for treatment would be much appreciated. Thank you!

    Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
