Hello all,

First proper post on this forum so hello to all. Following having a previous non breeding setup, i have just been given alot of eggs probly 200+ Some are developing nicely and i've been referring to the axolotl.org website to keep track of them. However, i have noticed, there seems to be a few eggs which house 2 embryo's (i think this is the correct terminology - please correct me if wrong) Some of these are beginning to develop, however most of these aren't. Could this be a product of inbreeding or anything else i couldn't find much else about this on the web really unfortunately i will try to take some photo's tonight and upload but may not be possible as no working laptop at the moment! And the camera on my mobile is abosoute rubbish!

Any advice/info would be really useful.

Many thanks

James

It's not uncommon to have twin embryos. I think the most I've seen share an outer membrane are 5 embryos.

As long as they're developing, they're fine. Those that aren't were probably going to be duds regardless of the shared membrane.

so nothing to worry about then if they do develp, i seem to have some of the eggs which seem to be very slow to develop some which are developing as per the egg picture chart

I've had twins an triplets. Most of them developed pretty good. They actually became axies :D

Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail.
