be careful about giving out information of animals where abouts.

The hidden (mouse-over) caption for this photo says "pond with T. marmoratus, cristatus, and alpestris". Did you see all 3 species there? What a treat!

In this pond i fond T.Helveticus (a common specie), T. Alpestris (a common specie too), T. Marmoratus (less common) and T. cristatus (not common i saw only one female but it was on very late,on August). Don't be afraid it's impossible to find pond like this simply with a photo. The forest is very big.

You're so lucky I've been going to france for years trying to get pictures of these guys, but I geuss I'm always in the wrong place at the wrong time of year.

Habitat of Pleurodeles watl and Triturus marmoratus in the high plateau of central Spain . The marbled newts leaves the water at Juny , Pleurodeles waltl remains all the year

Je confirme. D'autant plus qu'il n'y a pas beaucoup de "french visiteurs" sur ce site, mais quand ils s'y mettent, ça dégage ! JB

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

sorry I am having a hard time trying to upload the pictures- I have them saved on my hard drive... any suggestions-the prompts here are not allowing for downloads that way as far as I can tell. Thanks
