Hi, im new to this forum and i need some help with the raising of Triturus karelinii eggs. I have many aquariums and containers because i breed all kinds of crayfish. Mostly florida electric blues, albino, and red swamp crays. I have all sizes of containers and tons of systems. if you guys could i would appreciate it if you could give me a step by step instructions on how to raise the eggs and what to expect. i really wanna do this right so there are no deaths. i appreciate your help

Thanx for the link, is there a terrestrial phase in the karelinii?

After metamorphosis, they can be kept either semi-aquatically or terrestrially. If kept aquatic, they will grow faster, but with some risk of an occasional drowning. There are always a few that refuse to go in the water and grow slowly.

Regarding what container to use for them, I think there are basically 2 choices: an old cycled tank (plenty of plants & algae, plenty of space, etc.) or totally clean containers changed every few days. I use the latter approach because I rarely have extra cycled tanks and I am often raising a large number of them.

Do you also own the adults that produced the eggs? In Florida, you may have some challenge keeping the temperature cool enough for Triturus. Karelinii are more tolerant than most, but I wouldn't go above 76F in the tank.

no im hopin on gettin sum eggs from a friend. and i can keep the water at exactly 76 degrees

kinda burning i suppose for them. can i keep them in a fully aquatic aquarium with a few inches of air space at the top with sum pieces of floating driftwood? when they are larvea before metamorphosis all i need to do is keep them in a tub of water and clean it everyday with perfectly good water? then they will go into metamorphosis after a few months? and that means they are adults?
