My two triturus cristatus are currently living in an outdoor vivarium with my fire salamander and there thriving. However I was told by keeping them aquatic they mature quicker and I want them to mature as soon as possible . So the question is what would you do. Dont be afried to ask any questions. P.S there is pond all ready in the outdoor viv.

Outside, they will grow even slower than terrestrial inside. I would suggest bringing them inside and keeping them aquatic if you want them to mature as soon as possible. Keeping them aquatic outside would not make them grow much faster due to the lower temperatures.

Indoor and aquatic I have had cristatus from egg to breeding in just one year.
They will eat lots and don't slow down through the winter.
All they need is a slight drop in temperature over winter and correct photoperiod to come into breeding condition
