As Azhael recently pointed out I should have shared some photos I took a while ago :p But in the interests of not highjacking Molch's thread here they are...

These are some I found kicking around recently after a camera spring clean.

Apologies for the lack of clarity on some they were in pond water! The L. vulgaris in the pitfall trap was an interesting colour vatiation I found a few years ago. The others (a mixture of T. cristatus and L. vulgaris) all came out of the same pond which was pretty heavily vegetated (almost 100% Typha) The final 2 T. cristatus were taken this year and came form a much nicer pond.

lovely critters. How much fun it is to dip into a pond and see them all in their best Sunday-courting-dress. Is that orange thing a vulgaris female? Interesting color....it almost looks like someone emancipated a noto eft... :)

Thank you for uploading them!
Those are some gorgeous animals. I can never have enough of L.vulgaris in breeding dress, they are just amazing. That cristatus is also an spectacular animal. I hope to be able to see both species in the wild one day :)

Is that orange thing a vulgaris female?

Yes, it caused some debate initially as it's spotting seemed to indicate helveticus but vulgaris it is.

. I hope to be able to see both species in the wild one day

If you are ever in the UK at the right time of year, I'd be happy to take you looking

Had a question that I just want to be sure of. My marbled newt is a little over a year old and has started to develop and I noticed that he is starting to swell a little below his abdomen. I guess I’d like to know if they are his testes or if I need to be concerned.

Hello!!! I'm new to this website and idk how to ask a proper question on the designated spot yet, so I'll ask here, I'm a first time Axolotl owner, and my dad used to run an aquarium store, anyways... Orca, my Axolotl, seems to loose parts of her toes on one limb from time to time, I can't seem to find the problem. Tempature is well, she doesn't seem to have any infections or anything, though. And I'm not sure if I'll be able to find a vet in Brazil for amphibians that are in a reasonable distance to drive without stressing Orca out too much

Hello, I’m hoping for some advice please. Our Axolotl is about 7 months old. Till now no problem. Eating, growing and happy. He’s simply stopped eating. Everything looks fine, his gills look healthy and no apparent signs of sickness. He just swims past the pellets and bloodworm like he can’t smell it. I don’t think it’s a blockage either. Any ideas and suggestions for treatment would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
