This is my other alpine pair, T.a.apuanus this time.
This sub species is smaller than t.a.alpestris, and (in my male's case) more colourful. The male is spectacular in his breeding dress, the picture does not do him justice. Along his back is bright cobalt blue markings, to match the blue tail and gorgeous orange belly. The female is also very gravid, has just laid about 70 eggs, and still going.
