Hey all,

I am bringing my axie to the vet this week to get him checked out before he goes into boarding. (I know, I hate the idea too, but I would rather him be with someone for a month who understands these creatures instead of just a friend or family member)

Anyways, my question is, how should I get him there? The drive is probably only 15 mins away but how should I transport him and what kind of container should he be in so the vet can examine him?

Thank you!

When transporting my axies I put them in a lidded plastic box with clean tapwater (you'd have to dechlorinate it, probably). I make sure to fill the water all the way to the brim and then pop the lid on, that way your axies won't go sloshing from side to side when you move them. Make sure your container won't leak when filled all the way and shaken about a bit!

Wouldn't he need air holes poked into the top? I think I am going to be more stressed out than he will be!

For a 15 minute drive you should be fine. If you were going on a long drive, say 4 hours or so... Then you'd have to at least open the lid and circulate the air once or twice.

Can you explain how you came up with the four hour figure?
And I don't understand how lifting the lid to "circulate the air" will do anything meaningful.

Just arbitrary numbers, I specifically chose 4 hours, because that's what I did when transporting fish.
