Does anyone use this brand? The type i have is called Scott's Premium Topsoil. Ingredients say it could contain one or more of these items based on location: peat, sphagnum peat moss, composed forest floor products, aged rice hulls or compost. It does not contain Miracle Grow or any other additives besides what I listed. This is the only organic soil I could find tonight after going to 3 different stores. I read sphagnum peat moss can contain a bacteria causing skin issues, but is this applicable to salamanders?

If anyone (in the FL area) knows of a good brand to use, feel free to clue me in!

Just read a new article on the s.peat moss and learned it causes ion loss. I don't use peat moss at all currently in their set up, but if I do decide to add the organic top soil (one ingredient being sphagnum peat moss) to the coco fiber I currently use, will this have an effect on the mole salamanders?

The reason I would consider adding it at all is because I'm planting a different type of live moss in the cage and need more soil mass.

I've used this brand before, never had any problems from it. I use a 50/50 (50% coco fiber and 50% topsoil) in most of my terrestrial setups.
