I was doing a water change and I noticed some tiny worms sticking to the side of my tank. I've never noticed them before. This is a new tank thatI was getting ready to move my axie into (there are no animals in it right now). I have no idea where the worms came from.

Anyone seen this before? Are they dangerous?

I'm really hoping I don't have to do a big scrubdown of the tank. It's taken 6 months to get it to cycle :(

Here's another picture. I've seen posts about planaria and white worms, but these guys are brown. I do have some moss balls in the tank, but no other live plants.

Please help anyone! I need to move my axie, but I'm scared the worms will infect her :(

Every time that I have put moss balls in my tanks, I have gotten critters of some sort! They seem to thrive in the moss balls!! Maybe it's because they are so dense and safe to hide in. Of course, I can't say that they came from the moss balls, but just sharing my experience. It is actually very easy to get stuff from any live plants that you put in your tank.

I don't know what kind you have.....I have never seen brown ones.....and I have been in the aquatics hobby for (GULP) 35 years!!!!! (that hurt to say.....lol) Maybe someone else will know what they are.

Good luck!

I took in a few to my local aquarium shop and was told that they are most likely harmless. Maybe I'm insane, but everyone else is referring to them as white x)

I'd still love an identification if anyone can help!

no idea what they are. but if you are concerned there are wormers available that are used to treat fish that are harmless to your bacteria. no idea whether safe for axies but it should biodegrade quite quickly and is safe for fish but will kill snails. Maybe they will just eat them!
