My smallest adult (7 inch) Timmy (not changed the name yet :ha: ) started laying a massive batch of eggs today at 3pm (4 hours ago) and is still swimming over rocks and pipes as if she's still laying. Can't be sure if she's laid any more as there's so many. How do I know when she's finished so I can take her out? Also how long should I leave it before taking the eggs out of the tank?

Some of the eggs seem to be half black half white...

And another of my females just started laying eggs!

Lucky you! Mine won't lay eggs somehow. 3 females, one male and nothing happens. He used to dump spermatophores all over the place but the girls ignored it. And now I haven't seen one in MONTHS! :(

Love the name too. :) Even if it's a female. (Kimmy?)

From my experience, when the female lays her eggs her cloaca is enlarged; similar to that of a male. When she's done lying eggs it goes back to normal. My females have taken up to 24 hours to get the job done.

My eggs have always been half black and white, the parents being a Wild and a GFP Wild.

I'd wait to pull the eggs for maybe 24 hours, you can do it sooner but I've found that the eggs tend to enlarge with a bit of time. The eggs being a little bigger makes them easier to scrape off whatever they may be clinging onto. Your fingernail will work fine for prying the eggs away.

Congratulations, and get ready for the excitement ahead of you!!
Cheers!!
