Hello,
When I was a Kid (30+ years ago), I would find tiger salamanders in my grandmother's farm house window wells (northern Indiana). My brother lives there now and when I go to visit, I still find a salamander. Recently I read that if you find them in window wells to get them out - they will die. Is that really true? I can't figure out where the go to breed, but they really seem to be attracted to this (damp & lots of leafs) environment. I usually find a toad and wood frog in there too.
If I should go there every year and "rescue" any salamanders, I will. But I am worried I would actually be doing harm.
Thanks,
Sue
