I am glad you saved him/her. It sickens me that people put hooks through them and cast them out for bait. Anyways, they take about 2-6 months to morph and some populations dont morph. Its highly variable. I collected some 2-3.5 inch larvae in early June and and now some are morphing, others are not. Mine have been morphing out at about 6-8 inches. A good sign they are morphing, is when they start to develope adult coloration and thier gills and tail fins shrink. Once that starts happening, I generally lower the water level and provide an island.

Thanks for the information. I would like to know everything I can about these creatures! I have read a lot about them. Do you have any recommendations?

Do they need an air stone, I have one on him, but I kinked the hose a little because it seemed to much, and seemed to bother him. He is much more active now.

Any tips you can give would be great thanks!!!!!!:p
