Mystery! Tiger Salamander Larvae? Picture

picture.php
Is this a tiger salamander larvae. It is an inch and a half.

Try up-loading the image to your profile album. That might work better.

It could be. But at that size, it could also be some other Ambystoma.

The only salamanders in my area are tigers, blue spotted, spotted, eastern newt, and the four toed salamander.

Tiger salamanders, blue spotted salamanders, and spotted salamanders all belong to the genus Ambystoma. Jen is saying that at this size, it is hard to tell which of those it could be. You may have better luck with identification after it morphs.

How long until it morphs? I know that tiger salamanders can take up to a year to morph but what about the other species.

Probably at least a couple months.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
