Hello everyone I am new at owning a tiger salamander and was wondering how long can they go without eating? I need to know if I leave dry pellets or dry dead crickets or mealworms in a bowl if he gets hungry enough will he go search for it and find it and eat? I will be going out of town for a week and it might be hard for me to get someone to feed him like I do so I was wondering what to do?

I would personally avoid all those food items and maybe just add some suitable sized earthworms. These may well escape into the substrate, but that is ok..something for your tiger to hunt while you are gone. I would say your tiger will be fine for a week without worrying about feeding, as long as its environment is good.

Tiger salamanders also would never eat anything that's not moving.
