Okay maybe this sounds weird, but I think Marley (my tiger salamander) puked the other day. He rushes up to the side of his tank and puts his little hannies on the glass when he wants to eat. So he did that when I went in my bedroom last night and he asked for food. I was grossed out to find in his pond a clump of worm remains covered in a white flim... it look liked the worm was in there for a while then he threw it up. Is that normal? I thought he might have puked it up because I overfed him... but he only ate two small worms. He has a very small appetite. Anyways, I'm just wondering if I should be worried or not.

I have one newt who always overeats and she'll puke after a serious binge. So it can certainly happen. I'd say that if it just happens once, make sure to not overfeed him again and he'll probably be fine. If it happens a lot, then maybe consider finding a herp vet.

There are definitely some sals that will overeat and then regurgitate later. Axolotls do this, so it wouldn't surprise me if a tiger sal would too. If yours has a problem with having a small appetite, I would suggest giving him small feedings every day (maybe just one worm). How long have you had him, and is he plump or thin?

He's not too thin or too fat... pretty much in the middle. He's solid but not chunky at all. He only ate like three worms in the first few weeks I had him. Then suddenly he was asking for food every day. I assumed his lack of eating was just due to a new enviroment and what not. Now he will come to the side of his tank and beg for a worm. He usually has a worm a day... sometimes he'll go a day or two without tho. Sometimes he asks for a second worm but that isn't very often. And when he does ask, half the time he doesn't end up taking it at all. I thought since he isn't eating many worms at once that he couldn't be over fed. But I suppose the size of the worm would make a difference, right? He was getting earth worms before (that's what he puked up) but this time I got red wigglers. They are smaller and he seems to like them more. Maybe I should stick to the smaller size? It's not that they aren't long like the earth worms but they aren't nearly as fat and bulky. Since he seems to like them I think I'll stick with the red wigglers and hope that it prevents future puking. Cause man... that was REALLY GROSS!!!
(and I'm already scared of worms! But I had feed him anyways - ah that's devotion! lol)
