Hello everyone, I need your help. My 6 year old axolotl has this huge red mark across her throat. I just cleaned her tank two days ago and she hasn't had any water quality issues in like 4 years. I'm gonna attach a photo of it. Is it an injury? Did she scrape herself? She likes to dig in the sand and could have easily hurt herself on her drift wood, but I don't know. I'm quite upset, she's not been injured or sick since October 2020. It's only around her throat and he wraps onto her right side. She's cut her hands before while digging and injured her tail but never her face like this. I fed her today, she ate pellets without hesitation and she's acting fine, she's not being extra aggressive, or swimming around all freaked out.

I'm then one who's freaked out lol. Clearly.

Thanks in advance if anyone is aware of what this is.

by the looks of the petechiae rash it does look like it has been done by something abrasive, make sure that any openings are wide enough to fit through.

Thank you. I went and got her a new hidey hole, one with a large opening, smoother too. I am considering taking her drift wood and sawing it in half to make it not nearly as large of an obstruction. She's injured her hands before digging but she's never had bad ammonia levels or any burns from that so this was kinda surprising to me. Thanks again for helping.
