Background i have had ducky and toothless for around 3 months, got them when they were 2.5cms.
One is 12cms and the other is 13. Both male i think so far.
Tank has always been bare bottom sat on a kitchen bench with basic ambient light from kitchen partially shaded by a small floating anubias and 2 rocks. They would always stack up next to filter or just under plant at the front of tank. Would come out and get excited when lights came on and sit there for hours happily.
Now moved to a much larger tank and now have places to shelter but still prefer to be out in the open and wont even explore the dark spots even with a regular or plant bulb turned on. I read they dont like light and things like that,but these boys seem to be all about the light. The ship pieces have ample room each side for both so is this odd for them or is something i havnt thought of going on?

Adorable photos! Seems to me they are just acclimated to light. My daughter's High School teacher kept hers in the classroom with just a couple simple hides and they did not seem to mind the light either.

sometimes lotls don't mind light! As long as they have the option to hide if they want to, I say its all good!

Im pretty sure due to being in australia that they are not the tigerrinum or hybrids.
Toothless he darker dude seems to be getting darker velvetty colour as well as keeping his wild type green and spots, still has iridophores and some clear spots on his tail... not sure what morph he fits into yet. Ducky the smaller greener one has gotten more white and yellow spotting through his green and black spots, is also alot lighter almost velvetty colour as well. By velvetty colour i mean like a dilution type like in dogs who are blue or isabella...
I think they are wild types with a dilution gene...
Still have iridophores and duckies gills gp from whote to pink while toothless stay purpley maroon...

Thesw two were inseperable in the tank they where i got them from both the only ones who had front legs and were actually stacks-alotling next to a log when i spotted them. The store wasmt even selling them they came in by accident woth 4 adult males and got sucked into sum tanks woth 8-9 other multi coloured larva. So they put them in the plant display and i just had to have them... they now have their own end of the tank and sleep nose to nose.
