Hello all, it's been a while since I've posted.
I've had my leucistic and albino since January 20th of last year. Their toe tips just started to darken and the leucistic has an enlarged cloaca (which I previously thought was constipation) and the albino does not. I have what I hoped I had when I first obtained them - opposite sexes! :D
They have been separated with each other since the 2nd month I've had them because they were tearing each other apart and I didn't have a proper tank. Well, I just recently set up a beautiful 4 ft. tank with plants, sand, shale..it's gorgeous. (Pics will be posted soon!) It is almost done cycling, and they will be with together soon.
I have a feeling they will be breeding this year. The tank's temps and conditions follow the seasons closely, and I know this naturally gives them motivation to breed. I also understand breeding starts in December, which is exactly when they will be together.
So, here is my questions! -
1.) What young will a leucistic male and albino female create?
2.) Are there any stimuli I can use to encourage breeding?
3.) I have never reared eggs of any animal species other than pythons. When and if eggs are laid, what do I do with them? Put them in a separate tank?
4.) When they hatch, what do I feed them, how do I feed them, what conditions are best to keep them in?
5.) I only want to keep one or two (Hopefully to raise to adulthood) for myself. Where are there places, besides here of course , that I could sell or advertise them?

Thank you much...I am looking forward to having a fun experience with breeding my Axolotls!

with regard to #2
I left my windows open at night so it got really cool, then I closed the curtains and left it like that for 2 days. It was then the males started their dancing then finally the female laid her eggs. ( http://www.caudata.org/forum/f46-be...eding/80294-they-mating-shes-laying-eggs.html )
I did not plan on leaving curtains closed, but seems the cold and the dark stimulated them into mating.

Hello

Is your Female's belly swollen from above? if so she`s full of eggs!
There should be a mixture of coloured babies! its so rewarding rearing the eggs and watching them grow!, to encourage them to breed is usally to seperate them which you already have and lower the water temp to stimulate the male its not always 100% gaurente though.
If they do lay eggs she will lay them on plants take the eggs out and put them in a tub/tank and when they hatch go the pet shop and ask for live daphina or brine shrimp only half of the babys will survive thats why they lay so many eggs feed them once a day make sure the babys bellys are full.
you colud sell them to any pet shop or on the internet.

Hope this helps, Jodie :D:D
