Had an absolute nightmare with feeding, my nt labs didnt hatch daphnia and glass worms and every live food i come across was too big and they didnt seem too interested in the pond bugs I found.

Hooray for Sera artemia mix, has hatched without fail everytime I've used it and it already has the salt and everything in with it!

So happy, now i know god looks like a orange brine shrimp, so happy guys thanks for all the support you have all given.

If any of you are going to be interested in baby axolotls I'll be selling them cheap, what is cheap for an axolotl ? I dont want to rip anyone off, just want a little bit of money to cover the costs of everything :)

And when do I change the water how long shall I give them to have a snack:proud: SO HAPPY ITS UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!!:ufo::smile:

Great news, I have been doing 100 percent water changes every 24 hours since mine hatched, i think i will keep doing this until they are big enough to go into small tanks, as i have a couple of small plastic aquariums, and i will use an air pump with a three way valve to lightly aerate the tanks, then i will probably be happy to do water changes a bit futher apart. As for feeding probably best to have a little look about on here and find a method that will suit you, i leave food in with mine for about 2 to 3 hours at a time twice a day, , the simple fact i actually see them eating gives me confidence,,,still can't get them to drink though, haha

Hmmm, bit worrying they are not drinking, maybe they are alcholic axoholics??

Im Im glad they are all doing well, Ive been feeding them once a day with a lot of food and leaving it in there a lot longer that 2-3 hours, so once mine are getting a lot big in a few more days Ill change to 2 times a day, just because ive been really busy with work training.

They do get changed every day though, weaker ones are dying off now, all massive growing lovely, ging to let everyone on here have first dibs as I trust most the people on here :) And I will pick the best for them :) Any idea how long it takes to get them onto bloodworm? x

Keep me updated if you can plese with your larvae, i have 200 so I might just fill my whole house with water :)

I'm still waiting for mine to hatch! :(

What ones did you get and how long they been on for? I dont want to seem like im pushing anyone but ive had success with sera artemia mix every time if u dont have much luck with the ones you have,

and i dont know where u live but if its close and u have issues i can put some on for you, i doubt we live close though always the way. Aqautic shops can order in BBS from denmark aswell, a lot of shops near me seem to be using the denmark suppliers and ive found them to be good may be worth a try to ask

hello, glad to hear your hatchling are still going strong, your feeding regime sounds good to me, my hatchlins do have food pretty much all day, but after 3 hours i clean most of the food out, but leave some in just so if they are still hungry theres always something there, then i add more food, and by the time its water change time, you can see that the food has changed the waters colour slightly, so its a water change and they have clean water all night. I actually left my water change the other night an extra 12 hours, so that was a 36 hour period, firstly because i wanted to try and secondly because of a family visit, but i think i will stick to every 24hours, gives them the best chance, also you have much more than me to deal with. How do you have them set up? My little beauties are all doing well, they're on day 21, and i have had them on frozen bloodworm since day 10. some of the smaller ones are catching up in size to my larger ones. I will start adding live food to their diets in a few days, although they are doing great with the frozen.

Still none hatched  I'm starting to wonder if something is wrong :( They are twitching and leaping about inside the egg, and I'm pretty sure they are still growing, they certainly seem bigger anyway, and I swear they look at me when I look at them :D They just dont appear to want to hatch...

Oh my. They do seem to be taking a long time
A couple of mine needed some help coming out of the egg, but if there still movement then they should still hatch?
How cold are they?

If they're flipping inside the egg, they are fine! Don't help them out of the eggs unless they're quite obviously stuck halfway out. Don't 'hatch' them yourself. They'll come out when they're ready! When they're kept so cold, it can easily take twice as long to hatch. Count your blessings; raising larvae is a big chore, and the more time you have to prepare, the better!

I did mean when they were stuck :(

Though I can see how it could have looked like I ment something else.

I lost one who's head was still stuck in, and I only used a little bit of suction from my handy dandy turkey baster, and if that didn't move it I left it be.

A couple of mine were accidentally hatched and they dont do good when hatched so just wait it out, i waited 5 days for one egg to hatch after the rest when my house was warm. It is mainly to do with temp tho the hotter the better, get a routine set up now as it can be hell if your not ready, just bare with it, they arent dead they are alive, they are liking it in the egg lol, and when they come out how lovely will it be for you so there is no rush! :D

I'm not sure how cold it is, but theres no heating in the tank and I havent had my central heating on this year yet! I have a good layer of natural insulation  and just dont feel the cold. I think I was a newt in a past life :D

I reckon its probably 10 degrees max, dropping a bit over night, as the ambient air temperature is hovering about 6 to 10 during the day, 2 to 8 over night, and its a bit warmer inside than out.

I've been out this afternoon and there was no twitching tonight when I checked, but they look bigger and more curled up if that makes any sense

I would say they are taking a while as your temperature is low, i kept my eggs between 16 and 18, i am not saying your temperature is wrong, no way,. I seen an article on here saying if you keep a lower temp then it can give you a little longer, incase you ain't got food for them hatching,. I imagine you will have new hatchlings soon, my fingers are crossed for you.,,,

I've got a small water heater I can use, would it be detrimental/beneficial to put it in now and gradually bring the temperature up? I've got a mudskipper tank in the same room and maintain them at 26/28 with no issues, they even keep an air temp of 20/22, so keeping the eggs at 18 wouldnt be an issue, although a bit fiddly.
