In Japan the axolotl (a ho ro- to ru in katakana) is also called the Wooper Rooper ( u- pa- ru- pa).
Ok, so tonite i did something I do not usualy do, I was reading some Japanese pages and I came across information about axolotl in Japan. (appearantly english language wikipedia also talks about this now) Here is name of Japanese axolotl, (ugh page cannot display Japanese. look for the spelling in english wikipedia, axolotl. its katakana. U-pa-ru-pa- is the spelling, but in katakana) Uupaa Ruupaa. (also, Wooper Rooper, Wupaa Ruupaa, Wooper Looper, etc. Its kinda how katakana works.) well anyways the name is a marketing thing. I am reading a translated article about it now, seeming I have not read anything in Japanese for over a year and a half until today...
I am jealous of all the cute axolotl toys I have found for sale in Japan thus far.
Also, I found some nice little emote icons of axolotl i think you guys may like.

Other things I found about about axolotl, I mean "WooperRooper" are the names of the colour variation. There is marble, which is the whildtype with all the flecks. I also came across some photo of the blue axolotl. It appears that the outer layer of skin may possibly be transparent or white, with an underlaying skin layer that is darker. Something like that. Anyways, you know the pictures of luetistics with blue bellies when they are tiny? It looks like that but over the whole animal and a bit lighter. Very interesting.
The cuteness of axolotl and the various personal sites dealing with axolotl i have found on google in Japanese is outstanding! so many more. Leutistics seem to be very popular and I have seen some many toys that arre the right size to sleep with and snuggle with. I am very Jealous of all the fun Wooper Rooper Japanese toys. Looks like it is time to contact my Japanese friends and import me some cute.
It is nice learning about axolotl culture in the non-English speaking or European descended people world. Anybody else know about axolotl culture in other parts of the world? I wonder if they are legal in the Philippines, youd probably need a cooling system there.
Anyways, if you have time to read translated pages or can read Japanese, the whole "WooperRooper" culture is pretty neat. just type in (u-pa-ru-pa- in katakana) and I am sure you will find something. Many pages have photographs that are interesting and varried in subject matter. Everything from clarity in the pics, differnt diseaes, and even a picture of an axolotl pooping, axolotls in pots, planted tanks, ect.
if anyone finds good links to axolotl toys for sale, please send me a link. Hooray for the Wooper Rooper!
