We were up north again trout fishing last weekend. Of course we had to peek under a few rocks while we were there. This is one of several benders we saw. I even had a 2-3 incher swim by my foot but I lost sight of him before I could pull my camera out, so I just got out of the water to avoid mashing the little guy.

Nice photo Russ! There's a "fine line" between fishing and standing around with a stick in your hand...glad to see you made the best of it! I've never seen a pic of a small 'bender especially from the side. Interesting how flat their heads are!

Did you at least TAKE your pole this time?

Good find, baby benders are always a good sight to see.

The flattened head is really quite interesting. You are a very lucky man that you get to see all these hellbenders on your "fishing" trips.

that is awesome. They say that there are Hellbenders in PA, but I have never seen nor heard of them in all my ventures. When I go fishing, all I see is one of the dirty dirty rivers.
