This is the new home for my axies

My darling b/f landscaped it for me over new years and both of us and the little guys are impatiently waiting for it to cycle. We still have to do a bit of modifying with the filter so that the water flow isn't as strong but i thought I'd share what we've done so far. It's certainly going to be a change from the little 2 foot tank.

it took all my patients not to just put em in, but worth the wait......

hehehe tell me about it, the first tank i did all wrong, this is the "we have learned" tank. Many thanks to everyone here for their wisdom on how to care for the little critters.

Patience is a virtue..... so is it cycled yet?

where'd you get the tank?

how long does it take for a tank that size to cycle from scratch? hahaha sorry, all these questions.

is it cycled yet? is it cycled yet? It had to be a large tank cause my 2 girls are rather "big boned" as Cartman would say

it's 103cm x 46cm x 54cm and I got it from a store over at Underwood Charlotte. Ron and I aren't entirely sure how long it's going to take to cycle, we've been adding water from my little aquarium every so often to hopefully give it a kick start. We've both outgrown our small tanks so it's going to be very interesting on how all our kids fair together in one big one.

Oh it is very beautiful! Great job! Might I offer a suggestion? A nice colorful background! Hehe

. I think a solid blue would really bring out the colors. I'm starting to think I should have gotten a blue one rather than one with a picture on it because it is so dark, but oh well, silly me lol

We've got a black (reverse side is a blue gradient) background we're going to stick to the back of the tank, i want to see how bad the condensation is when we put the chiller on the tank first before we put it on though. May have to get it laminated so it doesn't get ruined.

Wow, Nice JOb!! I like the tank without the background, makes it look even bigger... How many US gallons ?

Yeh, ive just put the background on my 2 foot too and it makes it look so much smaller. But it still looks better i reckon. I hate seeing my bare wall behind the tank. Much better having a background for taking photos too (the photos dont come out so light anymore, stupid peach walls LOL)

Oh an Vanessa - your tank is looking great! Thats an A1 axie home!

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
