Looks like we've managed to rid the tank of it's cyanobacteria so here is the final layout what do you all think? I'm new to this, can you see any potential axie problems.
The log in the middle is more than big enough on the inside for the axies to get right through without a drama and I made sure any sharp its inside and out were removed/filed down.

SO what do you all think?

Ignore the thermometer, it's broken it assure you the temp was NOT 23.2C

the log

They seem happy

Hmm, I love it! :D

Hi

Your set up is nice i like that log  Your axies seem to like there new home

Wow I think that looks awesome! Plenty of places to explore and hide. I'm also knew however but I'm sure more experienced axolotl owners will be along to offer advice where needed! =]

I notice that some species of plants you have are quite fragile, Your axies will most likely dig them up, and they may die (the plants!!!!! not the axies!!)
Just letting you know so that you can expect that.
your tank looks lovely.

Why is everyone so quick to put there 2p in.

You set up is great, your axies look very happy thats the main thing.

That is a brilliant set-up. How many liters?

It looks fantastic and very natural ...I hope your axolotl gang aren't hooligans and trash it :D

Because the OP asked for it?

Anyway, tank looks really nice, very bright.

I like the live plants (even if they do get dug up).

Nice work

We grow the things for sale, if they get slaughtered I'll go out and grab some more, I have noticed the male likes to dig so kinda expected some to be uprooted, at least until they can get some good roots down.
There are a couple of fragile ones in there but for the most part the will all grow quite happily floating around the top of the tank as well as planted into the sand.

212ishL 4ft x15" x 18" deep (it was a custom build when we got it, since moved from the location it was made to fit ) that's a bit over 56 US gallons

LOL Yes I did and I'm thankful for it
I love live plants too :) Axies are not alone in digging them up, there are plenty of fish that will do the same given the chance.

Well so far so good, tank is still nice and clear and they have taken to hiding behind the log, rather than in it  otherwise it seems the female has claimed the rocks on the right and the male the ones on the left. ;) and no digging yet.

Thank you everyone I'm quite proud of how it came out :)

Looks GREAT :D
I had a load of plants and wondered about Juan digging them up, with him it was more like

"hmmm... i need to get over there but there seems to be a plant in the way, ... I think i will just go through it and kick it over here so its not in my way any more!!... GENIUS!!!!"
:D

Edit to add... i'm dead jealous you can just grab new plants if they get destroyed ;)

i love your tank. It looks great. I would love to have live plants in my tnnk but i seem to kill every plant i have ever owned.

Thats how I would like mine to look like, at the moment i'm lacking the plants. Looks pretty awesome.

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: Go Jaun!!!!!!

I know I am SO lucky to have access to all these wonderful plants for pretty much free. It only costs for their fertilizer.

Thanks again guys.

Why is everyone so quick to put there 2p in..

You seem to have miss-understood the point of this thread completely, don't worry about it, we're not 'bashing' the OP, the '2p' is the feedback that the OP asked for.

That's great then, because it's mostly the pretty plants that end up getting slaughtered, as long as you've got a nice supply of them :p they're nice and pretty x) I like the swordy ones =D

I like the naturally planted tank. I feel that the animals are more comfortable in an environment that is similar to their home territory. That said, I couldn't begin to afford the plants in the first place much less their replacements. Good work on the set up.

I know what you mean Dick, plants for me are 4 for £10 and that's fairly cheep - for the nice big plants I get - but it's still too much to replace in my axie tank all the time. so I'm a big plastic plant fan.

Tank looks fantastic! Definitely inspiring!

Do you use any plant specific substrate like eco-complete? Or just sand?

Thank you :D
The landscape place calls it washed river sand which from what I can figure is pretty much just play sand  but a 20kg bag (only needed one for that tank) is $4.50 you can't complain about that.
