The BBC's most recent nature documentary that has recently wowed North American audiences (it had already shown in the UK), has an episode on Caves. There is some nice footage of the "Texas Blind Salamander" (a Eurycea) towards the end of the episode, so it's worth keeping an eye out for repeats of the program.

I don't like linking to commercial sites, but I would imagine one might find this episode on a web site like http://www.spikedhumor.com by doing a search for the words bbc and caves.

John,

There was also some superb footage of Andrias in one of the programs. I thought that the series was the most special thing to ever grace the screen of a television.

As a Eurycea purist, I'll let everyone in on a little secret. The salamanders shown were actually Austin Blind Salamanders, Eurycea waterlooensis and not the Texas Blind Salamander (Eurycea rathbuni) as the narrator states. The footage was shot in a captive rearing facility in Austin.

Amazing salamanders to be sure. :supercool:

Thanks Nate, I wasn't sure which species it was.

Travis - I'll try to find that footage.

Andrias is in the "Fresh Water" episode, which is number 3 in the list of episodes.
