Tetra EasyCrystal Filter help

Hi everyone

Apologies if this sort of thing has come up before I did do a search first... I know I should probabbly be posting on a fish forum but I am not a member of one to date...

Basically I have just bought a second hand 60L terta aquarium, came with filter...

The filter is called Tetra EasyCrystal Filter Box 300 - I have not seen one like this before, now either i have always had rather noisy ones or my days of keeping fish were so long ago that I cannot remember...

Basically I have followed the instructions and switched on but no bubbles are coming out, there is a flow of water coming out the top of the filter system and a humming nooise which I assume to mean it is in working order... But my last aquarium (a jewel) had a much more powerful flow..

The aquarium if for fire belly newts so if its working okay I guess its in favour of them as they don't like fast water right?

Anyone used this filter before? Thanks in advance

This particular filter isn't meant to be completely submerged, so I hope that's not how you have it setup. It should have a waterfall appearance like a hang on the edge filter. The water is sucked into the bottom, filtered, and comes flowing out of the top, and over the lip.

Here's a diagram if it helps:

Hi Shizeric, thanks, that diagram is useful it appears I have it working all properly, as it does have a wee waterfall type thing flowing out the top of the system like I said in my post. It just must be a lot quieter and less forceful than past filters that I have used, this is a bonus for the newts! Thanks!
