I was just wondering how dobros do in a terrestrial set-up. Do they become shy or do they venture about? Do they run to hides when their cage is approached or do they still beg for food? I was just wondering. I currently have over 60 larvae and will be selling them but I may keep some terrestrial before they are sold if it is easier to keep them that way.

I haven't personally kept dobrogicus metamorphs in a terrestrial set up, but judging by every other terrestrial newt I've had, I'd say aquatic is the easier way without a doubt. Mine never seem like they want to leave the water for good. I give them a cork float to haul out on and plenty of plants to rest in right below the surface. If kept aquatic they'll readily feed on frozen bloodworms long before metamorphosis. I've even had luck feeding my larvae on salmon pellets just prior to them losing their gills, but I'm sure they'll take them even earlier in life. Terrestrial newts will mostly eat live foods.

I'm curious to see how many people raise their dobro juveniles in a terrestrial set up.

I dont really plan on housing them terrestrialy but wanted to learn more on how to do it and the pros and cons.
