well, i am getting ready to move from pittsburgh to new mexico. The drive is going to take 4 days and the newts are going to be riding shot gun in a cooler. I am not worried about them getting to hot, but about keeping them too cold. What is the lowest temperature i can keep c.o. and c.e.p. for a peirod of 4 days. I was going to try to get the temp in the upper 50s low 60s. Is that to cold?

In my opinion, that is not too cold. I think if you put a layer of some insulating material between the ice and the animals, they will be fine.

Good luck on your trip. You'll find New Mexico quite a change in so many ways.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
